Pet of the Month: Quill

This beautiful girl is Quill. Quill got her name because when she was brought to the humane society she had a face full of porcupine quills. Quill was anesthetized at the humane society and the quills were removed but unfortunately they could not remove all the quills. Quill presented to us a few days after being adopted by her new owner with a mild cough. X-rays and an oral exam were consistent with kennel cough and she was treated. The cough resolved but soon Quill was back with several porcupine quills that were found migrating in her gum tissue and by her eye. These were removed and after a few more visits and a few more quills, Quill was finally quill free and she is this month’s Pet of the Month.
