Pet of the Month – Oscar

Pet of the month -

Say hello to Oscar or should we call him Lucky. Oscar was recently seen at the Emergency Veterinary Clinic of Tualatin after being bit in the abdomen by a coyote. His owners rushed him to the clinic where x-rays showed some fluid in his abdomen. That coupled with his pale gums, prompted the doctors there to perform emergency abdominal surgery. Surgery revealed Oscar was bleeding internally and had a tear in his caudal vena cava, the largest vein in the abdomen. The surgeon was able to suture the tear in his vein and after several blood transfusions and a few days of hospitalization; Oscar was able to go home to his family. Oscar’s bravery and amazing story makes him this month’s Pet of the Month.
